Kent-born Joe made the MK Dons first-team squad after progressing from their academy in 2006. Beginning life as a right-sided midfielder, he made two appearances for the Football League side and also spent time on loan at Walton & Hersham before a move to Northampton Town in 2007.

Struggling to break into the first team at Sixfields he was released and joined the Fleet in January 2007 on the eve of the transfer deadline.
He came on as a last-minute substitute at Woking but didn’t feature again and moved to Welling where he played 20 games in Blue Square South in 2007-08. The following season he skippered Fisher Athletic and had a trial at Crystal Palace before moving to Croydon Athletic in February 2009, helping them win promotion.

Following the problems at Croydon in autumn 2010, he signed for the Fleet once again in October 2010, proving to be adaptable in defensive and midfield roles.

Joe had a great 2011/12 season on The Fleets return to the Blue Square Premier, making 37 league starts as well as 4 cup appearances. His ever present consistent performances were reconnised when he won “Manager’s Player of the Year”, “Player’s Player of the Year”, “MyFootballClub Player of the Year and “Fleet Trust Player of the Year” at the end of season awards.

Q&A with Joe:

Q: After a great season, I would imagine that you could be moving to bigger clubs if you want. #1 reason for re-signing this quickly?
A: Well I’ve really enjoyed this season at fleet, the happiest I’ve been.
Q: Have you been able to take a break and vacation? Your ideal vacation? When do you get back training ahead of team pre-season starting?
A: I go on holiday beginning of June, sun sea and sand is perfect! I will do a bit of training 2 weeks before preseason to get myself ready.
Q: How do you personally measure if a season was good or bad? The team seemed to have a great chemistry, is there any one factor?
A: A lot of people tipped us to be relegated again but to finish pretty comfortably above relegation is a good season.
A: All the boys get on really well off the pitch which helps massively because we want to work and help each other on the pitch.
Q: Being one of the first to re-sign, along with Paul, sounds like a good D to start. Who are you calling next to convince to join you?
A: I’m hoping majority of the squad re-sign but that’s up to the gaffer and the other boys to sort out.
Q: On or off the pitch, what does Liam do to create a positive environment that allows the players to thrive?
A: He has a presence in the changing room and is a great motivator, and wants players to bring their individual strengths on the pitch.
Q: Any preliminary goals set for next season personally/team wide?
A: Personally my aim is to try maintain my form from last season, and I think the team can push for a top half finish.
